Get Into a Routine of Self-Care

Diving back into routine after the long, hot days of summer usually means that our own self-care takes a backseat. Whether it’s getting the kids back to school, work picking up, adjusting to the shorter days, or just gearing up for the holidays, fall just always feels more hectic. And typically, a packed schedule and more obligations mean you need to take care of yourself even more to avoid burnout and extra stress!

Build New Self-Love Habits

Self-care doesn’t always have to be a big to-do, though, there are plenty of quick, easy steps you can take to incorporate self-love into your busy schedule! Small habits can make a big difference down the road as other new priorities or changes pop up, so you can stay confident, calm, and relaxed through any season of life!

Daily Rituals for Self-Love

Begin your day with 5 minutes of meditation and mindful breathing

Journaling or setting intentions are great ways to set a confident tone for the day.

Practice affirmations to promote positive thinking throughout the day.

Soak up some sun! Get outside for a walk or enjoy sitting on the porch to get some vitamin D.

Start a gratitude list to remind yourself of all of the great things you have to celebrate each day.

Tidy up. Sure, that sounds like chores, not self-care. But you’ll love waking up to a clean house and going to sleep with a fully-made bed because you already did those tasks.

Get enough sleep (Soooo much easier said than done, but it makes such a huge difference for your mood and mindset)!

Brain dump. Women carry the majority of the mental load when taking care of a family or running a household, and stress from work can also cloud your mind and keep you up at night. Before bed, do a brain dump and list everything you have to take care of tomorrow so you know you’re not forgetting anything. (It’ll make falling and staying asleep so much easier!)

Schedule “Me-Time”

Block off time just for yourself every week, even if it’s only 20 or 30 minutes. Do something that lights up your soul or relaxes you! Reading, walking, taking a bath, or enjoying a favorite hobby are always great!

Set boundaries with your time to nurture your own well-being. You can’t pour from an empty cup, so sometimes you just have to say no to things or people that may stress or drain you.

Boost your mood with some movement. Take a break for a good stretch, a quick walk, or dance around the house to boost your endorphins and improve your confidence in the long term.

Spa treatment! Even just a hot shower or applying a face mask while you binge-watch your favorite show can refresh and revive you!

Start Small with Your Self-Care Routine

Building habits takes time. Especially when you’re overwhelmed and busy, it can be difficult to build a routine that sticks. Start small by adding something to make you feel good in the morning or before bed, then go from there!
