Do you feel inspired for new self-care every time the new year rolls around? Do you also abandon those resolutions before January is even over (I sure do!)? Taking care of yourself doesn’t have to start in January, and you can also keep it going all year long without having to set resolutions. If you need some self-care inspiration, here are 23 ways to invest in yourself in 2023!

1. Learn something new
Work your brain a bit this year and learn a new skill, dive into learning a new topic, or explore a current interest more in-depth! Your brain will thank you!
2. Start a new hobby (or dive back into an old one)
Expand your horizons with a fun, new hobby or pick up where you left off on your last one. You’ll feel much more fulfilled in your free time!
3. Put your phone down
Stop scrolling and use this time for that new hobby! Your eyes will thank you for the break from the screen time, and your mind will appreciate the break from doomscrolling.
Practice mindfulness and clear your head. Start your day with some deep breathing and a clear head.
5. Find a morning routine that works for you
Give yourself time to check in with yourself before you check in with the world. Your day will feel more relaxed if you’re not rushing and scrambling every morning.
6. Go for walks
Move your body, get some fresh air, and take in some sun!
7. Get that Vitamin D
Get outside (and maybe take a walk)! Your body wants some sun, and your mood will be improved, too! (Don’t forget the sunscreen!)
8. Drink more water
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
9. Get enough sleep
I know, it’s hard. But you need more sleep. Ditch the phone before bed and settle in for a good night’s rest.
10. Make time for guilt-free rest
Do nothing. Build yourself a cozy corner, light a candle, and just RELAX. You deserve it.

Treat yo-self! Go out to dinner and savor your meal, go see a movie by yourself, or hang out in a bookstore solo. Spend some time getting to know yourself and reconnecting with you.

Put on your favorite playlist and dance like no one is watching!
15. Be kind to yourself
Treat yourself like you would treat a younger you or a friend. Say nice things to yourself in the mirror, start your day with an affirmation, and give yourself grace if you make a mistake.
16. Call your friends
Check-in with your favorite people even if you don’t have time in your busy schedule to hang out. Call just to say hi and see how their day is going or let them know you’re thinking about them! You’ll both love it.
17. Clean out your closet
Declutter and donate. If you haven’t worn it in a year just let it go, you’re never going to wear it again.
18. Ditch toxic relationships
Nobody has time for those, and you deserve better. Relationships (friendship, romantic, whatever) are a two-way street, so don’t give your time, attention, and energy to people who don’t deserve it.
19. Daydream more
Let yourself space out and let your mind wander!
20. Go to therapy or journal
Sometimes just getting your thoughts and emotions out is exactly what you need. Sharing your thoughts either with someone or on paper is helpful for your mind, body, and soul.
21. Say “No” more
Put yourself first and say “no” to things that don’t fulfill you. Just say, “No!”
22. Say “Yes” more
Also don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone, you might surprise yourself! Just say, “Yes!”
